The Rusty Pelican, a landmark waterfront Miami dining destination, is currently undergoing an amazing transformation. We’re modernizing this iconic restaurant with spectacular new design, a deliciously local Florida menu, and a great vibe for dining, cocktails and special events.
For close to 40 years, we’ve been your favorite place for brunches and weddings, cocktails on the patio, first dates, birthdays and anniversaries. You’ve laughed, cried and celebrated many milestones with friends, families and loved ones here, and now, we are asking you to help us compile a digital record of this era, as we prepare to usher in a new one.
Share your Rusty Pelican Memory: My Mother’s last Mother’s day together was spent at your restaurant. We had reservations for our family of 12 plus our children and husbands and wives. There had to be about 30 of us. Your view from the restaurant was perfect as was the weather and day it self. We all gathered and ate and laughed as usual and took pictures. The Rusty Pelican has been visited by many if not all of us through the years. That particular Mother’s day was special because it was our Moms last. She thouroughly enjoyed the Rusty Pelican on all different occasions. We have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and cannot wait for it to reopen. I came here because my eldest son is getting married and The Rusty pelican was the first place that came to mind to have the dinner rehearsal. My niece just had her wedding reception there just before you closed for remodeling. Iam anxiously awaiting for you to reopen and maybe I can have my sons rehearsal there. Thank you for such good food and good memories!! Share your Rusty Pelican Memory: Well, let me start by saying that it was Halloween. I had roped two of my girlfriends into attending a Halloween Party hosted at the Rusty Pelican. We started weeks earlier by visiting Miami Twice and buying authentic 70′s GO/GO dancer costumes with platforms and oversized afros. Well the party rolled around, i had a terrible migraine and didn’t want to go out. My friends protested and quite literally dragged me out the door claiming “maybe you’ll meet someone”, to which i quickly rebuffed äre you kidding, you NEVER meet someone on Halloween”. We arrived to find the placed packed to the gills with beautiful people, everyone dancing and enjoy the awesome views from the second floor banquet rooms and deck. I still wanted to go home. My friend says, well atleast let me dance and then we’ll go. My other friends feet started to hurt and so she stayed with me. It was about this time’when we approached by a man dressed as a priest. Ïam here to listen to your confessions”he opened, OMG how lame i thought. Undetered he continued to talk and asked quesstions. ïm from PUuerto rico, where are you from?”I answered “she’s from PR too, why don’t you talk to her?”and pointed to my friend with aching feet. AND this was when my life changed forever…he turned to face me straight off and stated ï came over here to talk to you, not your friend.” I felt ashamed b/c my mother had not raised me to be rude and so i thought, poor guy, just give him a chance….and we talked and he asked me what my status was “single married divorced?” I answered “marriage is not for me”to which he answered “well one of two things has happened, either you have never been in love or you have not met the right person” I hesitated and answered ÿou are right on both accounts.” What’s funny is that he says that at this point he thought to himself “well I’ll show her!” That particular evening was full of funny moments, like my friend coming over to ask if i was ready to go home, taking off my wig and having a Shampoo comercial moment, refusing to give him my number(but getting his), etc. Share your Rusty Pelican Memory: Family and Friends were gathered for the glorious occasion but we had to hold off the ceremony since we were expecting guests from out of the country ( Saudi Arabia) happens that they were running late. We were all enjoying the beautiful ocean view, drinks, then all of the sudden we see something up on the sky and someone said, is it a Bird, is it a Plane or a MAGIC CARPET as soon as he finished saying this the door opened and our guest arrived. We all cracked up.!there were like 15 pelicans flying towards us…… Share your Rusty Pelican Memory: My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and last minute decided to go th the Rusty Pelican. The moon was rising and the mood was perfect it was Wednesday and we had found a babysitter. We sat outside where it was chilly but there was a fire. Share your Rusty Pelican Memory: My husband and I was celebrating our one year anniversary, and it was my first time visiting the Rusty Pelican Restaurant. I wanted to impress my husband by making him think that I was cultured and had been accustomed to fine dining. For our starter, my husband ordered the Escargot, and it was excellent. Imagine my suprise that the most delicious and flavorable appitizer I’ve ever eaten in my whole entire life was at the expense of a snail. Talk about a slow starter!Mothers day

Soul Mate
When we sat down and started ready the menu we notice we did not come prepared for the cost. We decided to at least have a drink and maybe an appetizer, when a gentleman by the name of Edward sitting at a table nearby commented “You two look extremely happy!” We mentioned our quick story on how it was our 10th anniversary and how we have two little boys.” He insisted on picking up the tab for the night. Embarrassed we declined but he insisted. He bought us a bottle of Champagne to celebrate and paid for our dinner. My husband and I bring him up and wonder how he is. October 25 we celebrated our 21st anniversary and we have 2 beautiful boys and a little girl. Hope to be enjoying more memories at the Pelican.Slow Starter
